What does Omniflow's Air Quality Monitoring measure? It measures the roadside pollutants that matter most for urban air quality — PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 (particulate matter), and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) — alongside ambient temperature for environmental context. These are the same pollutants set out in the WHO air quality guidelines and the EU Ambient Air Quality Directive.

Do I need to build new infrastructure to deploy it? No. The solution is designed to be deployed through existing or new urban infrastructure, without civil works. It integrates into Omniflow's smart urban platform, so cities can add air quality sensing to infrastructure that already stands on the street.

How do we access the data? Sensor data is transmitted to Omniflow's platform, OmniConnect, where it can be visualized, monitored over time, and interpreted alongside other urban data — helping teams identify pollution patterns, compare locations and support environmental reporting.

Can air quality data be combined with traffic data? Yes. Air quality monitoring can be integrated with Omniflow's traffic analytics and other urban data layers. This is particularly useful because road transport is the EU's largest source of nitrogen oxides — understanding traffic helps cities interpret and act on air quality.

Is the solution compliant with the EU Air Quality Directive? The revised EU Ambient Air Quality Directive (2024/2881) tightens limits for PM2.5 and NO₂ from 2030 and encourages denser, more localized monitoring. Omniflow's solution is designed to help municipalities prepare for these requirements — it supports environmental sensing, data collection and reporting, but specific compliance depends on each project's regulatory and technical specifications.

Where should sensors be placed? Air pollution is highly local — pollutants like NO₂ can be up to three times higher on busy streets than on quieter ones nearby. Placing sensors close to roads, intersections, schools, transport hubs and other sensitive zones is what reveals where action is actually needed. Omniflow can help assess the most suitable configuration for each location.

Does it provide real-time data? The solution supports real-time or near-real-time environmental monitoring, as well as tracking trends over time, so cities can both react to current conditions and analyse longer-term patterns.

Can it support funding or procurement applications? Yes. The solution is designed to support urban projects that require environmental sensing, data visualization, infrastructure integration, and smart city interoperability — relevant to air quality monitoring networks, critical urban areas, and public information initiatives.
